Hahahahaha I don't know how far I'll get in this competition really,
but I always find it fun to act big headed :P ... I entered this into a film competition. Very local, morten bay regional counsil.So I wouldn't say its very well known. But I knew during (high) school I really wanted to enter it. I wouldn't say, even though its my first festival entry, that it is soley focus on the animation. Actually it was more just the design, and the colours. The character design was fun, and I loved the effect I gave the little kids hair (especially the little girl :D - shes so colourful). I'd have to say that was a success.
The tools I used were photoshop (classic animation), flash(for the environment) and good ole After Effects. Though I didn't get into after effects too much, the time I had wasn't going down well. and to be honest I thought I wouldn't finish it in time. But I said NOPE!!! I had to make do with what I had already animated. And this is what happened to be set out in the end.
The story is, a girl is far out of reach, (thats why she is in the clouds) and the boy won't let go of his memories of them together. He is caught up. And to see he is alone and rather distant. But the song expresses the message. MOVE ON! right?

This was really fun, and I was interested how we could do this. But although its 3D,m it still really 2d and I don't know if I like the effect it has.

This is so amazing, and the fluidness as the bird changes into the man.... Its just so good.
And i was looking at the boys design! I like it. I'm going to have a look around. And try drawing more different ruffs of Levi's character design.

Character Design
First ruff designs of the character, I have figured out the storyline I'm persuing.
Boy in the Bath, I'll name it that for now. I have been fishing around some sybolism hoping it might trigger some more thoughts about what could happen. I thought some symbolism in the story would help carry the realisation of the boys place. But I'm having second thoughts on that.
These drawings are focusing on the size of the boy, and his shape more so than anything else. I most as well start at the basics. And more Ruff shape designs to come, I might look around for some inspiration next time.
I like short Shorts!
no really, I have found this recent admiration and facination. AND with that I have decided to work up on my very own short, and even pitch it to a crowd funding site pozible.com. BUT I have become very picky and undecided about what the short is about. My standards are getting higher. Therefore these last 3 months trying to figure out what I'm going to do have been fairly havoc. I only now have a few days to figure out, and put my heart and soul to one story.
Honestly last year, was the same. And I was hopeful in that I wouldn't repeat myself. But starting up it happened again, and nothing I put work into is right enough. Because, I think of this as something very important. Worldly important, and by worldly I mean my world. I'm going to put everything into this, and its going to represent me and what I can do. So I become very caught up in it all. It seems people like my stories though, despite the lack of confidence in promoting it.
My next goal is that, when I choose the story, I am going to put every little bit of me to it. I think thats the only way. Also I look at it this way, when I start to really work on it, I will get better ideas to the story. No different to painting. So hears to predictions!
